Head Buster is a strategy game where you control robots in turn-based battles. You collect gold by winning fights and use it to buy better weapons like rifles and flamethrowers. Each robot has a base to defend, and you win by either destroying all enemy units or their central base. Weapon ranges matter, you can’t hit targets that are too close or too far. You can scrap outdated robots for cash if upgrades aren’t possible. The game has ten maps, each with a password to track progress. What stands out is the oddball progression system. After losing, you deliver newspapers for small cash rewards to keep playing, a grindy but clever way to add persistence. The mix of base defense, unit management, and weapon mechanics feels tight for a 1991 handheld title. Multiplayer modes let you test strategies against others, though the Game Gear’s screen size means details can get lost. It’s a niche pick for fans of old-school tactical combat.
