Heart of China tasks you with a 1930s rescue mission as a former WWI pilot tracking a kidnapped heiress through war-torn China. The point-and-click adventure pushes you to navigate Hong Kong back alleys and enemy fortresses while solving puzzles that often have multiple solutions. Dialogue choices shape the story but missteps can lead to sudden deaths or dead ends. A few short arcade sections break up the exploration though they can be skipped after repeated failures. The game blends digitized actor footage with hand-painted environments for a distinctive 90s look. Released in 1991 it runs on DOS Mac and Amiga. While not as technically ambitious as later adventures its branching scenarios and mix of stealth and action keep it engaging. Players who enjoy puzzle-driven narratives with some risk-reward decision making might find its dated visuals a hurdle but the core mystery remains intact.
