Hexxagon is a two-player strategy game built around a hexagonal grid. Each side starts with three pawns. On your turn you can either move a pawn to an empty adjacent hex or jump it two spaces if that spot is clear. Moving a pawn converts all neighboring opponent pieces to your color. The board fills gradually as players expand their territories. Victory comes by wiping out the other player or ending with more pawns when no moves remain. Every placement feels like a tradeoff between growth and control. This DOS title from 1993 packs deep tactical choices into simple rules. The cloning mechanic creates exponential board state possibilities. Community playtests show matches often hinge on early placement decisions. With no random elements and under an hour average runtime it rewards careful planning. The hex grid adds spatial complexity absent in square-based games. Its minimal art direction keeps focus on the strategic core.
