"Without a doubt, Hitman: Absolution was, is, and will continue to be a gem of stealth games. By sacrificing some of the freedom of previous titles, the game delivers more strategic possibilities, more weapons, and more ways to achieve the objectives proposed by the story, which is cinematic and lends a touch of humanity to the legendary Agent 47. Aside from the high price and the fact that Brazilian Portuguese language support wasn’t included, there’s nothing to complain about. The graphics are beautiful, the performance is more than stable even in portable mode – and a version for Switch 2 is coming soon – and the gameplay mechanics, which provide adrenaline and fun from beginning to end, are flawless, with a high replayability factor."

About Hitman: Absolution

Hitman: Absolution drops Agent 47 into a personal crisis where the Agency betrays him. Released in late 2012 by IO Interactive and Square Enix, this title marks a shift toward a more cinematic approach while keeping the core stealth mechanics intact. You play as a cold-blooded assassin hunted by police and former allies across a corrupt world. The game launched on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC before appearing on Switch and mobile devices later. It runs on Glacier 2 technology to deliver distinct art direction and a story that feels heavier than previous entries. This is the fourth main game in the series where you seek redemption while navigating dangerous contracts.

Gameplay

You control Agent 47 through linear levels that reward observation over brute force. The core loop involves scouting a location, spotting guard patrol patterns, and selecting a method to eliminate targets. Disguises are central to your survival as they let you walk into restricted areas without triggering alarms. You can pick up weapons from the environment or use everyday objects like flowers or food to create diversions. A new takedown mechanic lets you perform instant kills if enemies get too close. Sessions last anywhere between thirty minutes and an hour depending on how many ways you plan your approach. The controls feel tight, but the levels are less open than older entries in the franchise.

What Players Think

Critics gave Hitman: Absolution a 74 out of 100 on OpenCritic with only 62 percent recommending it. IGDB shows a score of 73.6 from 666 ratings. The community vibes lean toward intense, story-driven, and emotional experiences based on recent polls. Some reviewers praise the stealth depth, calling it a gem despite the reduced freedom compared to older games. Players chasing completion face a challenge with 47 total achievements where only 38.8 percent get unlocked on average. The rarest item is Jack of All Trades at just 2.30 percent. Most players report an emotional connection to Agent 47's desperate search for the truth behind his betrayal.

PlayPile's Take

This game works best if you want a focused narrative rather than pure sandbox freedom. The $1.59 price tag makes it an easy buy even if the achievement hunting is tough. You should expect linear stages that feel more like set pieces than open playgrounds. The 2.30 percent unlock rate for Jack of All Trades proves some challenges are genuinely difficult. Avoid this only if you hate scripted sequences or prefer total freedom in every mission. It stands as a distinct chapter in the series defined by its heavy story beats and specific stealth rules.

Storyline

Hitman Absolution follows Agent 47, a cold blooded assassin, who takes on his most dangerous contract to date. Betrayed by those he trusted and hunted by the police, he finds himself at the centre of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth.
