About

Kaibutsu Para-Dice is a quirky role-playing game that layers dungeon crawling over a board game grid. You play a treasure hunter navigating Charles the Pudding the 13th, a labyrinth filled with monsters guarding valuable prizes. Movement happens on a hex-based map where each space triggers encounters or rewards. Choose from four distinct characters with different abilities to tackle procedurally generated challenges. Turn-based battles blend traditional RPG stats with dice rolls to resolve actions. The game’s oddball charm comes from its mashup of board game structure and monster-hunting loops. While not widely remembered, its 1997 PlayStation release gave players early access to hybrid mechanics that later games would refine. The inclusion of multiplayer adds replay value, though most interactions focus on single-player treasure runs. Simple visuals and straightforward combat keep the focus on strategic movement and resource management.
