Lennus II: Fuuin no Shito is a turn-based RPG that expands its predecessor's systems with a more complex magic framework. Players command a party of four, battling foes and earning experience through combat. The game introduces eight elemental spirits, each tied to abilities like fire, water, or void. Combining these spirits lets you unlock 36 distinct spells. Unlike standard RPGs, spirits gain power through monster kills and spirit-specific XP, not just repeated spellcasting. The single-player story follows a prophecy about a god named Pharus and a world split into four continents. Exploration and resource management are key, with battles often requiring strategic use of elemental weaknesses. Development dragged for four years, double the original schedule, and the final game flopped despite Nintendo Power promotions. A revised Nintendo Power version came out in 1997 but didn't revive interest. The series never recovered, with Lennus III canceled indefinitely. Its intricate magic system and dense combat loop appeal to fans of niche 90s RPGs, though the game remains largely forgotten. The story’s vague mysticism and mechanical depth create a polarizing experience, with little hand-holding for new players.
After 10,000 years of waiting, the prophecy of Undel comes true and the sleeping god Pharus awakes. It is said that he will gather the four treasures and unite the four continents, bringing the long-awaited "dawn". But what is "dawn" and what will happen to Undel after it happens?
