About

Living Ball blends pinball mechanics with a quest-style narrative across DOS and Amiga platforms. Players navigate three themed tables, desert, arctic, and industrial wasteland, each representing a domain controlled by a magical antagonist. The goal is to reclaim six stolen elements that maintain the planet’s balance by competing in pinball matches against these foes. Arcade mode offers straightforward scoring challenges while Adventure mode ties wins to a progression system, unlocking new levels and bonuses. Multiplayer options add competitive layers, focusing on high scores and table mastery. The game stands out for integrating story beats into pinball gameplay during the 90s, a rarity for the genre. Its mix of single-player campaigns and multiplayer modes was uncommon at release, appealing to both casual and strategic players. Known in the UK as The Ultimate Pinball Quest, it catered to niche audiences seeking more structure in arcade-style games. While forgotten by most modern lists, retro communities occasionally highlight its ambitious design for pushing pinball beyond reflex-based play.

Storyline

The three daughters of the river, mistresses of all destinies, stole the six elements of life responsible for the ecological and temporal balance of the planet Calypso. A warrior must travel and meet the witches to recover the elements.
