InterActive Vision at a Glance

InterActive Vision was a Danish studio founded in 1989 that operated for about fourteen years before its original entity went bankrupt in 2005. The company started under the name Interactivision A/S and changed it to InterActive Vision in 1999. They had offices in Silkeborg and maintained at least five subsidiaries across Central and Eastern Europe. Their catalog on PlayPile contains twenty titles, with eighteen developed in-house and four published by others. The bulk of their work appeared in the 2000s with fourteen releases compared to only six games in the 1990s. Their portfolio shows a heavy reliance on the simulator genre, which accounts for eight of their twenty games. They also made three shooters, two platformers, two strategy titles, and two racing games. Other genres like adventure, arcade, and pinball each received one entry. Most of their output focused on PC running Microsoft Windows with ten releases. They also supported older systems like DOS and Amiga with three games each, while newer handhelds like the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance got two games apiece. A single release appeared on PlayStation 2 and Amiga CD32. The company released several licensed titles in their final years including Top Gun in February 2006 and Garfield: The Search for Pooky in November 2005. Their last known release was WWII: Battle Over Europe in October 2007 after the original firm had already ceased operations in 2005. The studio was acquired by American firm Avantgarde Technology Holding Inc after the bankruptcy. Despite this shift, their output did not increase significantly as they moved into the second half of the 2000s. Their ratings on PlayPile reflect a mix of average performance across these varied genres. They did not achieve a reputation for consistent critical acclaim during their active years.
