Loco-Motion is a puzzle-strategy game where you rearrange track segments to guide a moving train through a grid. Using a joystick, you slide pieces into empty spaces to build a path. The train doesn’t stop, so timing matters, press a button to speed it up and grab passengers waiting at stations. Mistakes cost lives: run into barriers or edges and you’ll derail. The challenge lies in balancing quick moves with careful planning to keep the train on track. What sets it apart is the tension of a real-time puzzle. The locomotive’s constant motion forces rapid decisions, adding pressure to classic sliding-block gameplay. It supports split-screen multiplayer, letting two players battle or cooperate, and runs on early 80s hardware like the Intellivision and MSX. Though it predates modern sliding puzzles by a decade, its mix of spatial reasoning and reflexes feels surprisingly fresh for its era.
