Magic Carpet 2: The Netherworlds is a shooter where you guide an apprentice across floating realms on a magic carpet. Build bases, harvest mana by defeating enemies, and challenge rival wizards. This sequel adds night and underground levels, breaking up the action with new environments. Missions now require objectives beyond mana collection, destroy key structures, reach checkpoints, and navigate secret passages to unlock hidden areas filled with powerful spells. The game’s variety comes from its layered levels and mission design. Underground sections strip out rival wizards, focusing on exploration and combat. The story follows the apprentice’s quest to stop Vissiluth, a demon plotting to conquer the living world. After clearing cities of Vissiluth’s minions, you descend into his underground citadel for the final showdown. While community data is sparse, fans often highlight the sequel’s improved structure and fresh challenges compared to its predecessor.
The apprentice's master, who died after unleashing his deadly spell, was being spied upon by the Netherworld's ruler, Vissiluth, who is now intent on conquering the world of the living. It's once again up to this apprentice to stop him, by battling this demon. The NPC wizards are now considered to be Vissiluth's lackeys. They are all based in a city just before Vissiluth's seat of power. After the enemy wizards are vanquished, the apprentice takes an underground passage to reach Vissiluth's citadel. After the apprentice destroys the citadel, Vissiluth emerges and the two do battle. Upon emerging victorious, a volcano spews out mana in all different colours.
