About Manhunt 2

Manhunt 2 arrived on October 29, 2007 from Rockstar Toronto. It launched on PC, PlayStation 2, Wii, and PSP as a single-player adventure. You play as Daniel Lamb, an amnesiac patient escaping Dixmor Asylum after a storm shuts down security systems. Leo Kasper guides you through your past while the Pickman Project hunts both men. The game focuses on stealth and brutal takedowns rather than open combat. This sequel expands on the original premise with a darker narrative about memory loss and corporate coverups. Players navigate dark corridors and abandoned facilities to uncover the truth behind their imprisonment.

Gameplay

Sessions involve moving through dimly lit environments while avoiding detection by guards. You must sneak past enemies or use environmental objects to execute silent takedowns. The Wii version utilized motion controls for these executions, adding a layer of physical interaction. Standard gameplay requires managing your health and sanity levels which fluctuate based on violence. You collect drugs to clear Daniel's mind and progress the story. Tension builds as you navigate tight spaces where one wrong move triggers an alarm. Combat is inefficient so stealth remains the primary method for survival throughout the campaign.

What Players Think

Community sentiment reflects a mix of intrigue and discomfort with this title. IGDB rates the game 66.4 out of 100 based on 101 user ratings. Most players report an average playtime of roughly 8 hours to finish the main story. Completion rates hover around 72 percent for those who start the campaign. Review snippets often mention the disturbing atmosphere and controversial execution scenes as defining features. Community moods lean heavily toward "dark" and "intense" with occasional "confused" tags due to the narrative pacing. Some users express frustration with the difficulty spikes in certain stealth sections despite the low average rating.

PlayPile's Take

This title is only for players who want a short, intense horror experience. At $5.99 on Green Man Gaming it is cheap enough to justify a try. You will earn achievements tied to completing levels without getting detected. The story ends abruptly which might leave some feeling unsatisfied. Rockstar Toronto made something memorable even if the controls feel clunky on older consoles. Do not play this game if you have a weak stomach or dislike slow pacing. Finish it in one sitting and move on.

Storyline

During a severe lightning storm, the security systems at the Dixmor Asylum for the Criminally Insane go offline, allowing inmates Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper to escape. Daniel is disoriented and amnesiac, unable to remember anything about himself. Under Leo's guidance, he makes his way back to the ruins of his old home, which is located nearby. Inside, Daniel recovers drugs which help to clear his head, and discovers hints about the details of his former life. He and Leo follow a series of clues to unravel the secrets of Daniel's past, killing anyone who interferes; along the way, they are pursued by bounty hunters and agents of a mysterious organization called "the Project".
