About

Murdercide 2017 is a short but sharp point-and-click adventure that leans hard into its self-aware absurdity. You play Jon Murphy, a freelance detective navigating a dystopian near-future where murder cases and meme culture collide. The story sends him to the Rift Zone to investigate a killing, all while trading quips in a world where cybernetic enhancements and internet slang share equal importance. The gameplay loops around classic point-and-click puzzles but keeps things brisk, with a runtime clocking in at roughly 10 minutes. Despite its brevity the dialogue stretches to 20 minutes of recorded lines, crammed with meta humor and low-stakes chaos. The game’s cult following isn’t hard to understand. It holds an 82% on Steam with praise for its relentless tone and cheeky writing. What sets it apart is the commitment to dumb jokes and fourth-wall breaks, like a case file number so random it becomes a running gag. The art and sound design amplify the mock-cyberpunk vibe without taking itself seriously. If you want a lighthearted romp that’s over before it overstays its welcome this one’s a quick win. The kind of game that’ll stick in your head not for depth but for the sheer weirdness of remembering it at all.

Storyline

For Freelance Police-Detective Jonathan Murphy P.I, it's just another slow day boogie-boarding the meme waves in the dystopian near-future... Until he's called down to the Rift Zone to investigate another case of murder gone deadly. A case that Murphy won't soon forget. I mean there's no reason he would... It's not like he's been asked to memorize a really long number or something. I can remember loads of dumb stuff from like 20 years ago, and none of it was anywhere near this exciting!
