Outcast is a 3D third-person action game where you play Cutter Slade, a former SEAL navigating an alien world to stop a black hole from destroying Earth. You explore Adelpha’s five continents, each with distinct environments like jungles and deserts, solving smaller quests to unlock the main story. Combat blends shooting, stealth takedowns, and gadgets like a railgun and holo-decoys. You can switch to first-person for aim assistance or sneak past enemies entirely. Side characters offer optional tasks that flesh out the world, while portals let you jump between regions freely. The game stands out for its open-ended approach to problem-solving and detailed environments. Talan NPCs have varied dialogue that reveals lore without hand-holding. Though released in 1999, its mix of exploration and combat remains satisfying, with over 40 hours of content split between the main mission and optional stories. Appeal Studios’ design encourages experimentation, letting you brute-force solutions or think creatively with tools like the Twon-Ha mount. Storyline

In 2007, scientists discovered a parallel universe. The U.S. government sent a probe to that universe and learned of the existence of an entire alien civilization there. However, an apparently hostile alien damages the probe, leading to the creation of a black hole threatening the very existence of our own world. Former U.S. Navy S.E.A.L. Cutter Slade is assigned to escort three scientists to the parallel universe in an attempt to repair the probe and avert the danger. Upon arrival, Cutter is separated from the scientists and is greeted by the local inhabitants, the Talan. It appears that their world, Adelpha, has its own troubles: a mysterious being known as Faé Rhan has been assembling an army consisting of Talans who think themselves superior to the rest of the population and are willing to rule over them with violence. Cutter is proclaimed the Ulukai, a savior mentioned in a prophecy, and entrusted with the task of retrieving five sacred relics needed to overthrow Faé Rhan - all while trying to locate the scientists and save the Earth as well in the process.
