About

Prehistorik Man is a side-scrolling platformer where you play Sam, a Stone Age hero tasked with saving his village from starvation. Dinosaurs have devoured the winter food supply, so Sam must venture into dangerous prehistoric territories to collect rare bones. The gameplay focuses on running, jumping, and dodging obstacles like raptors and lava pits while gathering resources. Each level mixes exploration and timing, requiring players to balance speed with careful navigation to progress. The game’s charm lies in its quirky premise and retro aesthetic, blending simple mechanics with a surprisingly engaging narrative for a 90s platformer. Though originally released in 1995, it’s since appeared on modern systems like Switch and mobile, letting new audiences tackle its 15-level adventure. With a completion rate hovering around 60% on speedrun sites, its challenge feels fair but not punishing. The mix of humor in its primitive setting and straightforward goal, save the village, makes it a cult favorite among retro gaming circles.

Storyline

Prehistorik Man, like its predecessor, takes place in the Stone Age. In the middle of the night, greedy dinosaurs steal all the food from a small village. With winter coming and the village inhabitants facing starvation, the Village Chief summons Sam, a young and agile villager, and tasks him with obtaining food to help the village survive the impending winter.
