Ratchet & Clank Before the Nexus is a mobile platformer that distills the series’ core mechanics into short bursts of action. You control Ratchet as he leaps across grindrails zipping through urban environments collecting bolts. These bolts unlock weapon and armor upgrades keeping the loop tight and rewarding. The controls are simple enough for quick sessions with touch-based jumps and grinds. While brief the game serves as a direct gateway to the Ratchet & Clank universe focusing on chase sequences and light combat. The game doubles as a tie-in for Ratchet & Clank Into the Nexus. Syncing a PlayStation Network account lets players earn Raritanium a currency usable in the main console game. The story follows a minor arc about the Prog Duo’s latest heist giving fans a bite-sized narrative between the main series entries. Released in 2013 it’s a mobile-friendly companion piece rather than a full sequel. Players looking for a quick fix of Ratchet’s adventures or a way to bolster their Into the Nexus loadouts may find value here.
In a live Polaris News Update, news announcer Stone Stonefield reported on the mysterious disappearance of the Terachnoid scientist Fleebar Snuttleblast, who was believed to have skipped work to attend a Captain Qwark vid-comic convention. However, it was later discovered he was abducted by the twin crime team, Vendra and Neftin Prog, lead suspects in the theft at Pollyx Industries. On Terachnos Ratchet looked at the Prog Duo's M-class star cruiser as it flew past him and shot at him. He began chasing them across grindrails, city sections, inside buildings and on land, eventually defeating them and capturing Vendra while rescuing Terachnoids on the way.
