Resident Evil Code Veronica drops you into a haunted island prison where Claire Redfield battles zombies, mutated beasts, and a deranged Umbrella commander. Developed by Nextech for Dreamcast, it swaps pre-rendered environments for 3D polygonal graphics while keeping the series’ methodical survival mechanics. You’ll manage limited ammo, solve environmental puzzles, and dodge attacks in real time. The camera retains fixed angles for tension but adds dynamic lighting and smoother movement. A split-screen multiplayer mode lets two players tackle scenarios together, though resources stay scarce enough to test cooperation. The game’s 3D shift was a risk but mostly successful, balancing innovation with familiar claustrophobic horror. Claire’s story continues her search for brother Chris, weaving family secrets and Umbrella conspiracies into the chaos. Though some critics called it uneven, fans praise its atmospheric tension and the challenge of managing inventory under pressure. With over 1 million copies sold, it remains a cult favorite for those craving classic survival horror with a dose of early 2000s tech. The multiplayer mode still surprises with how well it handles shared scarcity, no easy saves here.
Three months after the events of Resident Evil 2, Claire Redfield is still looking for her brother Chris. She infiltrates Umbrella Corporation's headquarters in Paris, where she is captured and knocked out. When she comes to, she finds herself in a prison on a remote island. Freed by a friendly guard, Claire faces several problems. Not only is the island under attack by an unknown assailant, but there has been another outbreak of the T-Virus and the island is crawling with zombies and other mutated creatures. Claire not only has to face the undead, but also the commander of the base, a mad aristocrat with family ties to the origins of Umbrella Corporation and the T-Virus. And escaping from the island is only the beginning of Claire's ordeals.
