Sansara Naga is a 1990 RPG for Family Computer that mixes Indian Vedic mythology with Japanese folklore. You play a character who stole an ostrich egg and seeks redemption by raising a dragon companion that gains levels while your own stats stay fixed at 40 STR and 40 DEF. The game includes field events, hidden landmarks, and side quests where you help villagers or avoid scamming merchants. Battles let you use enchanted armor like the damage-canceling Dharma Armor or feed fallen enemies to your dragon to boost its power. The game remained obscure until a 2013 fan-translation by Stardust Crusaders. Its blend of sacred cow lore, references to the Tower of Ṛta Satya, and oddball mechanics like corpse-fueled leveling have drawn retro RPG communities. While similar to early Dragon Quest and Earthbound, its cultural mix and dated charms make it a niche curiosity. Over 30 years old but still puzzling, it’s a relic that rewards persistence.
