About

Shinseiki Odysselya is a turn-based RPG from Vic Tokai that tasks you with navigating a mythic struggle between divine realms. You control a small party as they cross a world split between heaven, hades, and earth, battling foes with a mix of spells, weapons, and timed action inputs. The story follows a young woman sent back in time to undo ancient seals placed on powerful deities, blending Greek-inspired lore with sci-fi elements like energy-based magic systems and mecha-like guardians. Progression focuses on balancing character stats and gear to handle escalating challenges, with branching dialogue occasionally shaping key decisions. This 1993 title stands out for its ambitious narrative scope and polished mechanics for the era. While less known than its contemporaries, it earned a cult following for its layered storytelling and atmospheric worldbuilding. With a runtime of around 40 hours and multiple difficulty settings, it remains a niche pick for players seeking underappreciated SNES-era RPGs. The game’s mix of tactical combat and mythological themes has kept it relevant among retro gaming circles, though its original 1993 release limited its initial reach outside Japan.

Storyline

At the time of the Creation, great beings first created the heaven and the hades, then the earthly world between them, and placed gods in each of them. Titano Guardians, once the guardian deity of the earth, went to war with the heavens, which wanted to conquer the three realms, and lost after a long war. The Guardians were separated because their great power was sealed off by Tentei, the head of the heaven world. Then time passed, and when the earthly world was again in danger, a girl was sent to the past to break the seal of the gods.
