Target: Renegade is a side scrolling beat ‘em up that lets one or two players take on hordes of street thugs. You play as a bare-chested fighter seeking revenge against a crime lord who murdered your sibling. Each level crams you into chaotic brawls where fists, bats, and broken bottles fly. The Commodore 64 version keeps it simple but sharp, swapping co-op for single player in some ports. While the NES edition borrows more from Double Dragon, the computer versions stay true to the original arcade feel with tighter combat and faster pacing. The game’s split personality across platforms makes it a strange but addictive relic. Despite the box art’s ripped bodybuilder flexing a flying kick, the real action is all about fast combos and scavenging weapons mid-fight. The story barely matters, this is 1988, and the plot’s just an excuse for punches and payback. It sits between two sequels in Ocean Software’s short-lived Renegade line, but this middle chapter packs more punch than most would expect. With no fancy mechanics or open worlds, it just wants you to smash and move. Simple, raw, and strangely effective for a genre still finding its feet.
Mr. Big is back in town, and this time he's captured your brother! He's being held at Big's Pig Pen which is located on the upper side of town. The problem is, every gang in the city is out looking for you. It is now up to you to beat the odds and rescue your brother. You start the game armed only with your fists, and along the way there are some additional weapons to be found such as baseball bats or garbage cans. Gameplay is an arcade style side scrolling action game for one player.
