About

The Drifter is a 2D point-and-click adventure that leans hard into story-driven gameplay. You play as Mick Carter, a drifter dragged back to his hometown where a murder and a time loop collide. The puzzles feel like natural extensions of the narrative, practical, grounded, and tied to Mick’s resourceful nature. The game moves fast, avoiding frustrating backtracking or dead ends. Each loop tightens the mystery, pushing Mick through corporate conspiracies and personal demons with barely a pause to catch his breath. What stands out is the tight pacing and atmospheric tension. The Drifter’s blend of noir intrigue and cyclical storytelling has earned it a 90% rating on Steam, with players averaging 8-10 hours to complete. Its minimalist art style and voice acting keep the focus on the twisty plot, while the lack of obtuse puzzles makes the investigative gameplay feel intuitive. A stealth hit among point-and-click fans, it proves the genre’s revival still has room for fresh takes.

Storyline

Mick Carter's been drifting a while now - never staying one place long, moving from job to job. Forced to return to his old home town, he witnesses a violent murder, is pursued by mysterious armed men, and killed. And that's just the start of Mick's problems. His consciousness ripped away, thrust back into his own body seconds before his death... Framed for the murder he witnessed, tormented by his own past, and haunted by a feeling that something followed him back from the other side... Follow Mick as he's sucked headfirst into a mad web of shadowy corporations, murder, and the thousand year obsession of a madman.
