The Great Battle IV mixes shooting and platforming in a chaotic mashup of mechs, monsters, and heroes. As a crossover title, it throws characters from Kamen Rider, Ultraman, and Mobile Suit Gundam into the same fast paced action. You bounce between levels filled with boss fights, scrolling shooter sections, and tight platforming. The controls feel tight and responsive, with a focus on quick reflexes and memorizing enemy patterns. Coming out in 1994 for Super Famicom, it’s a niche title with a small but dedicated following. Developed by Sun L and published by Banpresto, it’s part of a short lived series that never made it overseas. Players praise the chaotic fun of seeing these franchises collide, even if the difficulty can be brutal. With no online presence and limited English resources, it remains a hidden gem for retro fans.
