The Mummy tasks you with controlling Alex O'Connell as he navigates ancient Egyptian-themed levels to stop Imhotep from collecting talisman fragments. Gameplay mixes platforming, where you climb and jump over traps, with slingshot combat and hand-to-hand brawls. A wrist-mounted talisman lets you manipulate objects and trigger switches, while your companion Tut can reach areas you can't to solve puzzles. The goal is straightforward: track down each talisman piece before Imhotep uses its power. The game’s blend of puzzle-solving and action stands out, though its 2004 release date shows in the dated visuals and controls. While some praise its creative level design and faithful adaptation of the animated series’ vibe, others find the combat repetitive and platforming finicky. It carved a niche among retro action fans but remains a forgotten entry in the Mummy franchise.
Alex has the ability to jump and climb to overcome obstacles. To fight off enemies the player can fire his slingshot or fight the enemies with his bare hands. The talisman on Alex’s wrist gives him the ability to move objects and place them on a floor switch for example. Alex can also send his pet Tut to places that cannot be reached by himself and so activate a switch
