Hip Interactive at a Glance

Hip Interactive operated as a North American video game publisher from 2001 until its collapse in July 2005. Although the company was originally founded in Canada in 1995, its gaming output on PlayPile consists entirely of titles released during the 2000s. You will find nine games listed under their name as a publisher, with zero entries showing them developing software directly. Their catalog spans multiple genres but leans heavily toward Shooter and Platform games, each with three releases, alongside Adventure and Arcade titles. They also ventured into Role-playing games, Puzzles, Sports, Real Time Strategy, and Hack and slash or Beat 'em up styles. The company reached players primarily through Microsoft Windows, which accounts for six of their nine releases. They also had a presence on Game Boy Advance and PlayStation 2 with three games each, while single titles appeared on the original PlayStation and Xbox. Their rating history reflects a mix of average to mediocre performance. Out of seven rated titles, none achieved a great score above 80. Five titles fell into the good range between 60 and 79, while two received mixed ratings between 40 and 59. No games dropped below 40. CT Special Forces 2: Back in the Trenches stands as their highest-rated release with a score of 78 in 2003. Beyond Divinity followed closely with 71.7 points in 2004, and Garfield scored 66.3 later that same year. CT Special Forces from 2001 earned 65.4 points, and Rugby Challenge 2006 finished at 60. Fear Factor: Unleashed received the lowest score of 40 in November 2004. The Mummy from October 2004 remains unrated on the platform. The company distributed first-party products from major hardware makers like Microsoft and Nintendo before filing for bankruptcy in 2005. Their output was concentrated entirely within a five-year window, and they closed operations shortly after releasing their final titles. Hip Interactive did not sustain a long-term catalog of high-rated games, and their reputation rests on a modest collection of standard genre fare.
