Touhou Kishinjou is a danmaku shooter with arcade and adventure elements. Set in the Touhou Project’s Gensokyo, it follows three protagonists dealing with supernatural chaos as youkai rebel and ancient weapons misbehave. Players alternate between fast paced shooting segments and brief exploration phases, navigating dense bullet patterns while managing weapon quirks. The game leans into the series’ signature difficulty, demanding precise movement and memorization of enemy cycles. The blend of action and light puzzle solving sets it apart from straight shootouts in the franchise. Though it sits at a modest 70/100 on IGDB, fans of the series appreciate its compact story and refined mechanics. The small runtime and focused design make it a brisk challenge for those familiar with Touhou’s rhythm, though newcomers may find its abrupt shifts in pace jarring.
Youkai are rebelling, and tsukumogami are turning up; no one knows what's happening, clouds are gathering, and a strong wind carries the sounds of a huge building. Gensokyo is full of the sounds of dissonance. The individual weapons of the three protagonists are starting to act oddly. It's their job to either take their weapons in hand and fight the youkai, or to cast their weapons aside.
