Touki Denshou Angel Eyes by Tecmo is a 2D fighting game with an all-female roster. Matches play like classic versus brawlers, with each character bringing distinct movesets and animation styles. Half the cast uses hand-drawn sprites while the other half relies on pre-rendered 3D models. The PlayStation version adds character-specific storylines and training options, alongside hidden fighters. Split-screen and multiplayer modes keep the action local, with Arcade and Versus modes as core options. The clash between 2D and 3D visuals remains its strangest trait, but the mix adds charm for some players. Eight angel sisters battle in a tournament to decide who becomes archangel, with personal stakes driving each fight. Community interest is niche but persistent, with retro fighting game fans noting its combo system and unlockable content. The PlayStation release remains the most fleshed-out version, though technical hiccups from 1996 show.
Up in the heavens, eight angel sisters lived much like any sisters do: they argued a lot. One day, a decree came down from on high. One... and only one... of the sisters would be chosen to become an archangel, but it was up to them to decide who it would be. It was decided that each of them would make a pact with a warrior on Earth, through whom they would fight, and the winner of a grand tournament would be chosen to become the new archangel.
