About Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Remastered

Naughty Dog dropped this remaster on PlayStation 4 back in October 2015. It follows Nathan Drake as he hunts for the lost city of Atlantis while dodging bullets across London and the Arabian Peninsula. You play a shooter, adventure game, and platformer all at once. The story picks up right after Nate and Sully get double-crossed by a man named Talbot in a London pub. That fight kicks off a flashback to their teenage days in Colombia where they first met Katherine Marlowe. This is the third main entry in a series that changed how action games feel. You control Nate directly while he solves puzzles, climbs buildings, and runs from bad guys who want his ring.

Gameplay

You spend most of your time moving between cover spots in gunfights or sprinting across crumbling ruins. The controls feel tight as you vault over barriers, slide under debris, and grab onto ledge edges to swing across gaps. Combat involves taking cover behind crates while picking off enemies with a pistol or assault rifle. You can also perform quick-time events where you wrestle bosses or dodge explosions by pressing specific buttons in time. Between action sequences, you solve environmental puzzles that require finding keys or manipulating levers to open paths. A typical session looks like a short firefight followed by a platforming section where you climb ancient towers. The game forces you to keep moving forward with no reloading checkpoints in sight during intense moments.

What Players Think

Critics and players on IGDB rated this title 83 out of 100 based on 125 reviews. Most users who finished the campaign spent between 15 and 18 hours playing through the story mode. Community moods lean heavily toward "satisfied" with many noting the improved visual fidelity compared to the PS3 version. Review snippets often mention the pacing as a highlight while others complain about difficulty spikes in later levels. Achievement hunters have unlocked over 40 trophies, though getting 100 percent completion requires finding all collectibles hidden in dusty ruins. The average playtime sits solidly around 16 hours for a first run without rushing through cutscenes or replaying sections to find missed items.

PlayPile's Take

This game is worth buying if you want a polished single-player campaign with great gunplay and climbing mechanics. The price varies by region but usually lands as a budget title on the PlayStation Store. You will earn 43 trophies if you aim for full completion, which takes extra effort to find every hidden artifact. Some sections drag on too long or feel repetitive after ten hours of gameplay. It is not perfect but it holds up well against newer releases. Finish the campaign and see if the ending lands for you before spending money on extras.

Storyline

The story begins with Nathan "Nate" Drake (Nolan North) and Victor "Sully" Sullivan (Richard McGonagle) entering a pub in London to meet with a man named Talbot (Robin Atkin Downes), who is interested in purchasing Nate's ring. During the meeting, Nate and Sully accuse Talbot of offering them counterfeit banknotes, and a fight ensues. After fighting their way past Talbot's thugs, Nate and Sully emerge in an alleyway, where they are surrounded and subdued by Charlie Cutter (Graham McTavish), Talbot's cohort. They are then approached by Talbot's client, Katherine Marlowe (Rosalind Ayres), who steals Drake's ring. Nate attempts to go after her, but Cutter guns him and Sully down, seemingly killing them. The story flashes back to 20 years earlier, where a teenage Nathan Drake (Billy Unger) explores a museum in Cartagena, Colombia, in search of Sir Francis Drake's ring, but is thrown out after guards suspect him of being a thief. Intrigued by the actions of Victor Sullivan, who he does not know at this point, Nate follows Sully to a keymaker and pickpockets him, before returning to the museum. He steals the ring, but before he can leave he is caught by Marlowe, her henchmen, and Sully, who was working for her. Nate flees with the ring, with Marlowe's agents in pursuit, but Sully rescues Nate from the agents and decides to act as a mentor to him.
