Videocart-19: Checkers pits you against the computer in a straightforward match of the classic board game. You control 12 pieces on the bottom half of the screen while the AI manages 12 at the top. Move diagonally forward, capture by jumping over opponents into empty spaces, and force jumps when possible. Reach the opposite side to crown a king, letting it move both directions. Victory comes by eliminating all opponent pieces. Released in 1978 for the Fairchild Channel F, this was among the earliest console checkers games. The AI offers a modest challenge with limited tactics, focusing on pure strategy over flash. While simplistic by modern standards, it preserves the core mechanics fans know. A relic for retro collectors, it lacks polish but delivers functional gameplay.
