Vindicator is a 1988 platform shooter split into three distinct acts. It begins with a maze-like underground complex where you collect keycards, fight enemies, and solve an anagram puzzle to unlock blueprints. This leads to a vertical shooter stage piloting a plane or jeep, switching vehicles after deaths, while blasting enemies with unlimited ammo and special explosives. The final act shifts to a side-scrolling base infiltration, using lifts and trap doors to navigate while fending off waves of foes. The game stands out for blending puzzle-solving with fast-paced action. Its shift from cerebral challenges like anagrams to twitchy shooter sequences creates a varied experience.
