Xardion is a 1992 Super Nintendo game that mashes up shooter, RPG, and platformer elements. You control one of three alien warriors, Triton the robot, Panthera the cat-like quadruped, or Alcedes the insectoid giant, each with their own playstyle. Switch between them on the fly to adapt to challenges. Panthera’s small size lets him access tight spaces others can’t while Alcedes brings brute strength. If a character dies you lose their health but restart the level with the rest of the team intact. Progress relies on mastering their unique moves and collecting weapons that change how you approach combat and exploration. The game’s standout is its trio of distinct characters working in concert. Though the story of interplanetary cooperation is straightforward the mechanics encourage strategic switching to solve environmental puzzles and overcome tough enemies.
