Yolanda: The Ultimate Challenge is a punishing platformer where you control a cursed princess racing through 50+ procedurally generated levels across 12 grueling tasks. Each challenge requires precise jumps, timing, and puzzle-solving to progress. You’ll replay sections until you memorize deadly layouts, with some tasks spanning five interconnected screens. Success demands relentless trial and error as you dodge traps and enemies in tight, pixel-perfect controls. The game’s relentless difficulty and structure set it apart. Players must finish all 11 prior tasks to unlock the final challenge, creating a steep progression curve. Its 1990 release on Amiga and Atari ST made it a tough benchmark for retro fans, with many levels designed to frustrate and test endurance. While completion rates remain low, dedicated players praise its unyielding design and the satisfaction of beating its worst traps through pure repetition.
Beautiful princess Yolanda has offened the Goddess Hera. Jealous of Yolandas beauty, Hera has placed a curse upon the princess. She has told Yolanda that any man she falls in love with will die horribly within a week of their meeting. The curse will be lifted only if Yolanda can re-enact the twelve labours of legendary Hercules. Distraught, and faced with a life of loneliness, Yolanda gathers her courage and sets out on the tasks, armed only with the advice given by the messenger god, Hermes. The solution to her task may not be obvious and there will be times when you will have to place your life in the hands of the Gods if success is to be yours!
