Capybara Games at a Glance

Capybara Games started as a small group of developers in Toronto in 2003, but their active release history only began in 2007. They have maintained operations through 2026 with a modest output of ten titles listed on PlayPile. Six of these games appeared in the 2010s, while two emerged in both the 2000s and 2020s. Their catalog shows a clear preference for PC platforms, appearing on Microsoft Windows in nine out of ten entries. They also reach PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Xbox One, Mac, and older consoles like PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, though their presence on Linux and Android remains limited to two titles each. The studio leans heavily into Adventure games with eight credits, followed by Indie and Role-playing genres. Their top-rated work includes Grindstone from 2019, which holds a strong score of 92.7. Critter Crunch from 2007 also performs well at 85 points, while Super Time Force and its Ultra version secured scores in the mid-80s range. Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes rounds out their high-performing titles with an 81.2 rating. Across nine rated games, the average sits at 79.8. This data shows a consistent pattern of quality, with six titles scoring 80 or higher and three landing in the 60 to 79 range. There are no mixed or poor ratings in their history. Later releases show a dip in critical reception compared to their peak years. Below received a 69.2 score, and OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes sat at 68.8. Recent activity includes the Definitive Edition of Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes in 2023 with an 80 rating. The studio has also announced Find Your Words for December 2026. While they are often associated with Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP based on external bios, that specific title does not appear in their PlayPile game list. Their output remains small compared to larger industry players, but their rating distribution suggests a reliable track record of creating well-received games without producing any significant failures.
