Creating experiences based on emotion is our passion. We tell stories in which the players are the heroes: that surprise them, encourage them to consider their feelings and values, and to make them face the consequences of their choices. We create experiences that meaningfully consider personal and social issues. And we find new creative and technical solutions, to challenge ourselves with every game, to explore, invent, create and innovate. This is the DNA of our studio.
Quantic Dream operates out of France and has been active since 1997. The studio currently lists 19 games on PlayPile data, serving as a developer for 16 of them and a publisher for five. Their catalog spans nearly three decades, with only one game appearing in the 1990s and three more in the 2000s. The company saw its highest output in the 2010s with eight titles and released five games so far in the 2020s. Their work covers many genres, though Adventure is by far their strongest focus with 17 entries. They also have a small presence in Role-playing, Puzzle, Indie, Shooter, Fighting, Strategy, Hack and slash/Beat 'em up, Real Time Strategy, and MOBA categories. Platform availability shows a heavy reliance on PC and PlayStation consoles. Fourteen of their games are available on Microsoft Windows, while nine run on PlayStation 4. They also have releases for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 5, Mac, Dreamcast, Xbox One, Xbox, and Linux. The average IGDB rating across nine rated titles sits at 74.2 out of 100. This score reflects a mix of high praise and some disappointment. Four of their games achieved great ratings above 80, while four others landed in the good range between 60 and 79. One title received a mixed rating in the 40 to 59 bracket. No games fall into the poor category below 40. Their best-received works include Indigo Prophecy from 2005, which scored 84. Heavy Rain released in 2010 earned an 80.9, and Detroit: Become Human followed in 2018 with a score of 80.1. Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior from 2024 also hit the 80 mark. Their recent output shows more variability. Dustborn released in August 2024 received a low score of 52.5, which stands out against their usual performance. Other recent releases include Under the Waves (71.1) and Indigo Prophecy: 15th Anniversary Edition (Jan 2021). Spellcasters Chronicles is scheduled for February 2026. While the studio claims a passion for emotional storytelling, the data shows that their quality has fluctuated significantly in recent years.
