Sega Sammy Holdings formed after the merger of Sega and Sammy Corporation. Sega was having financial trouble after the Sega Dreamcast when Sammy Corporation bought enough shares to force the merger in 2004. Both companies continue to operate independently although Sega took over Sammy's game division so they could focus on their Pachinko and Pachislot machines.
