Most platformers give you a health bar or lives. The Melty Way gives you your own body, and then asks you to spend it. This liquid-simulated slime platformer caught attention at GDC 2026 for its clever twist on the precision genre: every move you make costs you a piece of yourself.
The Core Mechanic
You play as a slime where movement equals sacrifice. Sliding, shrinking, and dashing through hazards all consume your mass. The larger you are, the more resilient but less agile. Smaller means faster but more fragile. This constant tradeoff between size and mobility sits at the heart of every puzzle and platforming challenge.
