About

EyeToy: Play is a collection of 12 short mini-games for PlayStation 2 that use a camera to track your movements. You fight, dance, juggle, and solve puzzles by moving in front of the EyeToy device. The camera reads changes in your position to control actions. Most games are simple and fast. Many work with multiple players. High scores unlock photos you can show off to others. This 2003 release was the first to use EyeToy’s motion capture. It leaned into physical humor and accessibility. Co-op and competitive modes keep it social. While some mechanics feel rough by today’s standards the novelty of waving your arms to play games stuck with many. Nostalgic players remember it as a wild experiment that worked. No major ratings data but it sold over a million copies with the camera hardware.
