Sub Hunt puts you in charge of a submarine fleet defending a sea route from enemy convoys. You switch between four subs to aim torpedoes through a periscope view, adjust speed, and dive or surface as needed. An overhead map lets you plan movements and position boats for optimal coverage. The game features five difficulty levels and requires careful resource management to intercept and destroy six convoys before they escape. The overhead strategy layer adds depth beyond raw shooting mechanics, blending real-time action with tactical positioning. As the first submarine sim on Intellivision, it leverages the system's graphics to create a distinct undersea feel. Players who like methodical military tactics over fast reflexes might find it rewarding, though the dated control scheme could feel clunky by modern standards.
